Dr Who/Torchwood - how did Captain Jack live through the 20th century?
Without crossing his own time line??
OK so when Rose brought him back to life (after the Daleks killed him) and they left him behind (at the end of series 1), he transported to Earth with his wrist-band thingy didn't he? And ended up in the 19th century. Then he said (in "Utopia") that he had to "live through the 20th century looking for a version of the Dr" that would co-incide with him.
But whe the Dr and Rose first met Jack, he was living in 1940s London during the blitz, disguised as a USAF pilot.
So how did he live through the 20th century without crossing his own timeline, as he was "already there"?
Confusing!
He was careful to avoid himself. For example, pre-immortal Jack was in Cardiff with the Doctor during the episode Boomtown, and in one of the Torchood novels it reveals Torchwood-Jack kept himself and the rest of the Torchwood team away during that time. I guess he has a good memory and knows what times/places to avoid so he doesn't run into his younger self.
