i know that this isnt the answer you are looking for, but since when has Torchwood started in the US and on what channel?

Well the BBC say that in addition to series 3, "there may be more Torchwood episodes later in the year", so we could end up with an additional mini-series or possibly some one-off specials to make up the numbers. It's also possible (although unlikely) that they might even make a full 13 episode series for later in 2009.

So I would expect to see a Torchwood DVD set towards the end of 2009 containing both series 3, and whatever they have planned for later in the year.

Another possibility, although maybe not a likely one, is that they might combine the Torchwood mini-series and the forthcoming Doctor Who specials for 2009 into a single boxed set.

As for extras, I was actually quite disappointed with how few there were on the series 1 and 2 boxed sets (especially the lack of commentaries, e.t.c). So the 5 episode mini-series, may simply provide an opportunity to include a better package of DVD extras.

the value of the Dollar have been VERY low- compared to the british pound the dollar was worth as little as 38 CENTS- over the last Yr
it is abit better now- the dollar is worth about 55 cents-- so what cost you $100 in the usa is worth about $50 in British money-- they would be taking a Big Loss

inside torchwood was the show that aired after the children earth on BBC America inside torchwood would talk about stuff from that day of shildren of earth please find out for me i really wanted to see four and it was the only one my dvd didnt record
